Till Death do us Part: Part 11

Autopsy, Arrest, Mystery
Millicent, Claire, Frank and Alice all sat in the living room of the Abernathy manse waiting for Detective Gleason's news of the autopsy. Every stomach had a knot, every heart was apprehensive.
"I'll try to make this brief," said Gleason. He loosened his tie in great discomfort from the liquid heat of the day. "Eva Spencer was murdered and it was made to look like a suicide. We have Anita Brewster in custody as the alleged murderer. She is also a a person of interest in the death of Dr. Abernathy, based upon certain factors."
Alice drew in a deep breath of shock. "No, not Anita, no. It couldn't be her. She's too kind and sweet, even if she did hate Eva. And she was so good to Edward"
"I can't believe it," said Claire.
"Unbelievable," Frank said.
Millicent just sat there quietly, but her anxiety was obvious.
"So what is the evidence against Mrs. Brewster?" Frank asked. "It makes no sense whatsoever."
"I can't tell you too much pending the trial, but what I can tell you is that there is strong evidence against her. Now, you folks are still persons of interest in the death of Dr. Abernathy. Please do not leave town."
Frank showed Gleason to the door and thanked him for his time. He turned to find Alice in Claire's arms weeping softly. Millicent walked into her father's den and looked out the window at her mother's ravaged gardens. "This isn't the way it was supposed to have turned out."

This family is broken and devastated all because a man was cruel and selfish. Now another person has died. You really are pulling it together now. I think I might just have figured some things out. Unless you have thrown us a red herring....
